Our trusted team of experts advises our customers on whether a product can or cannot be manufactured, and help determine the appropriate materials and most efficient processes.

These practices have led us to pioneer many advanced forming technologies used in fuel-efficient vehicles. For example, TransForm was the first company to bring In-Die Roller-Die technology to North America, and Aluminum Flowforming processes in a 10 speed automatic transmission. Today we continue to push boundaries with new Aluminum Flowforming Technologies and industry-leading capabilities in Material Forming Simulation Software.

Metalforming & Extrusion Presentation

Extrusion can produce internal and external splines. External: The preform is located in the spline tooling and an extrusion punch displaces material into the cavity. Internal: The outside of the spline is captured in the die cavity and a mandrel forms the internal spline.

Roller Die Forming

The roller die process uses a full set of rollers located in the lower die with a mandrel mounted to the upper die - typically part of an entire transfer press die set. The preform is located on the mandrel and the entire spline is rolled during a single press stroke.

For special spline and part geometries TransForm also utilizes segment tooling technology.

Flowforming

During flowforming the preform is fixed to the mandrel in the axial direction and set in rotation. Three rollers located on the circumference (120° apart) are CNC controlled, and move axially to form the outer contour of the part while material is pushed onto the mandrel.
